An alternative Christmas Survival Guide

I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Please take extra care if you decide to go walk about over the festive period. Try and wear some sturdy footwear with good treads, to give you that extra bit of purchase on any slippery footpaths. And wrap up warm!

Walking in the snow and the winter sun can help restore perspective and balance away from the sometimes fraught domestic situations we can encounter over the festive period. Going walk about can help us see the wood for the trees.

I took the picture (left) in Tytherington Woods in Cheshire earlier this week.

In the run up to Christmas, our cities are teeming with life as shoppers try to get everything they need for the big day. On Christmas Day itself, streets can seem eerily quiet as every family goes through their unique Christmas Day ritual.

If you are wanting something an authentic present idea for a loved one this Christmas, why not buy them a Walk Talk Tour audio tour guide? Each tour is composed of commentary points (like tracks on a CD), listeners hear about a particular attraction and then receive instructions explaining how to get to the next commentary point. To hear an audio sample from the Palace Trail, one of our five walking tours of London, please click here.

Buy one Walk Talk Tour and get a second one free by entering the following promotional code in the shopping basket page: BI123.

Hi Phil - I like your snowman. Did you make it yourself? :-) last weekend I made one with my little boy in my dad's back garden. Very therapeutic.

I will try to get out for a nice walk somewhere in Kent during Christmas/New Year depending on the weather of course.

It is better than sitting plonked in front of the telly eating and drinking the whole time!

Have a great Christmas. All the best for the New Year.

Glen
