Burns' Collection Grows

Five lost poems have been attributed to Robert Burns, Scotland's national bard, by a leading literary academic. Professor Robert Crawford told the Scotsman that: "I don't want to use the word 'new' as they have been floating around. But the case of them being thought of as Burns poems, rather than poems collected by him, hasn't been made before."

Interest in Burns has increased as the 250th anniversary of his birth (which will be marked in January, 2009) approaches.

The 'rediscovered' works will appear in a new collection entitled The Best Laid Schemes.

Visitors to the Scottish capital can hear about Burns' links with the Scottish capital with the Royal Mile & More, Edinburgh travel guide.

Listeners to the Royal Mile & More mp3 guided tour can hear about two individuals who touched the celebrated poet's life. Both Robert Fergusson and Agnes McElhose, whom Burns wrote to using the pseudonym Clarinda (she called him Sylvander), are buried in Canongate Kirkyard.
