Feel Good Vibrations in Edinburgh
Good Vibrations traces the adventures of Maestro and his sidekick, Bella, as they learn about the science of sound. The pair experiment with volume, wavelength, pitch and frequency.
The show designed to appeal to all ages will be staged in a marquee by Our Dynamic Earth, Wednesday - Sunday, until 16 August.
The inspiration for Our Dynamic Earth was provided by a geologist from Edinburgh who is regarded to be the 'father of modern geology.' In 1788, James Hutton had his 'Theory of the Earth' published. Hutton based his paper on research he had carried out on rocks from Arthur's Seat. Hutton proved that the earth was far, far older than previously thought. It was fitting that Our Dynamic Earth should be built close to Salisbury Crags, the site of much of Hutton's work.
Sir Micheal Hopkins was the architect responsible for designing the exhibition's distinctive buildings.
There are plenty of other distinctive buildings in the vicinity for Our Dynamic Earth, most notably the new Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Listeners to the Royal Mile & More audio downloadable walking tour can hear about murder and intrigue at the latter, and overspending and controversy at the former.
