Drive Thru Movies London Style
Free movies will be shown in the open air Scoop amphitheatre from tomorrow, Wednesday 4th June until 27th June. There are no tickets for the screenings, but movie goers are advised to be in their seats by 9.15pm. The first screening is due to start at 9.30pm. The Scoop is situated next to City Hall, where the Mayor of London the London Assembly and the Greater London Authority are based. The building was designed by Lord Foster of Thames Bank. In the UK big screens are more commonly used to convey images of big sporting events 'live' to fans and revellers at music festivals. This been London there will not be a car in sight.
The post of Mayor of London, whose responsibilities cover the Greater London area, was only created in 2000. It should not be confused with the Lord Mayor of London, the first of whom was appointed in 1189. The latter presides over the administration of the Square Mile, on the opposite bank of the Thames, and promotes the City internationally. Visitors wishing to go walk about in the City can learn about its varied past on the City & The Tower London city guide.
The newly elected Mayor of London is Boris Johnson. His predecessor, Ken Livingstone drew praise and scorn in equal measure for introducing the congestion charge in the capital in February 2003. Exploring London on foot with a Walk Talk Tour is a great way to learn about the sights in your own time, at your own pace. No need to struggle to hear a tour guide, or feel like a lemming in the crowd. So, why not make London time, your time with a Walk Talk Tour?
Independent visitors to the capital can discover the secrets of the South Bank with a Walk Talk Tour London travel guide. The Ride & Stride mp3 guided tour begins takes city explorers on a journey from the north bank over the Thames via the Millennium Bridge along the South Bank taking in the Tate Modern, the Globe Theatre, the Clink Prison and City Hall, before guiding visitors back across the Thames over the iconic Tower Bridge to the once infamous Tower of London. The five London audio walking tours are available in French, German and Spanish. Independent travellers will receive instructions at the end of each commentary point, which will guide them to the next destination. In addition, each Walk Talk Tour comes with a downloadable map ensuring that you will not miss a thing!
Typically, the Walk Talk Tour London audio walking tours can be completed in two hours. The City & South Bank Circular, which combines the Best of the Ride & Stride mp3 guided tour and the City & the Tower London travel guide, takes a minimum of three hours to complete.
